It’s official: we’ve found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! You’ll find Seary’s Creek tucked away in the Cooloola Recreation Area of the Great Sandy National Park. This stunning place has long been a favourite amongst locals for its iconic amber water, thanks to the tannins from the surrounding vegetation. A leisurely morning of rejuvenation beckons here, where you can go for an easy stroll along the boardwalk, set out your lunch on one of the nearby picnic tables, and enjoy the vivid hues of seasonal native wildflowers.

Less than a 10-minute drive from the golden sands of Rainbow Beach, the Seary’s Creek day-use area is well-worth the slight inland detour. During the warm months, you’ll discover an idyllic haven for cooling dips amongst spectacular natural beauty. Grab an inflatable and float downstream as tiny rainbowfish flit in colourful bursts beneath the surface. We know this’ll be one moment you’ll never forget.

If you’re keen to stretch your legs further, don’t forget to pay a visit to the nearby Poona Lake (only 7 minutes from the Seary’s Creek day-use area by car), which also features a stunning walking trail brimming with native fauna and flora. Remember to keep in mind that all of our natural wonders on the Sunshine Coast are constantly shifting with the seasons and weather patterns, which means no two days will look the same. Our local community is also passionate about preserving special places like these for generations to come, so please make sure to stay on the designated pathways and leave only footprints.
