Connection to Country Tour

Connection to Country Tour

This 3 hour onsite tour at TribalLink Activity Centre, held on Jinibara Country and led by a First Nations Facilitator includes a meaningful Welcome to Country or Acknowledgement of Country and explanation of the differences and significance of the two. Each guest then gets to partake in the use of Ochre painting on themselves, as an act of acceptance and then a full display of traditional artefacts of First Nations tools and weapons, their uses and touch them and have a test of them! After this, we share Dreaming Stories from the Jinibara and Kabi Kabi region, while being immersed in the Rainforest and the sounds of the local fauna. Each tour can choose between enjoying a short tour of our Food Forest and discover the bounty of the bushtucker, and enjoy some tasting of local treats, like Finger Limes, Davidson Plums, Bunya Nuts and Lemon Myrtle tea depending on the seasons, or alternatively, learn to make Emu Feather Tassels, understand the meaning and then keep this creation forever! We also offer a chance to throw a Boomerang or a Traditional Spear and learn the ancient art of hunting and gathering.
