Looking for affordable ways of visiting Mooloolaba with the kids? Explore our fun list of things to do with the family.

Mornings by the beach

There aren’t many places where you can enjoy endless hours of entertainment without reaching for your wallet... but at Mooloolaba Beach, fun comes without a price tag! Set yourself up underneath the dappled sunlight of the she-oak trees, with a picture-perfect vista out towards the iconic Point Cartwright Lighthouse. Protected by the rock wall that leads out to the lighthouse, the calm blue waters here are perfect for a paddle. Bring down the cost by packing some snacks to keep you going during the day (there are plenty of fresh, locally grown fruit and veggies on offer at local markets in the area).

Afternoon activities

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, Mooloolaba

While it’s tempting to spend the whole day by the ocean, you won’t want to miss the rest of the family-friendly fun on offer at Mooloolaba. We’re talking attractions like SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, with its focus on our epic underwater kingdoms and the diverse range of animals that inhabit them. Admire the little blue penguin exhibit, get hands-on in the Tidal Touchpool, and marvel at the immersive, walkthrough Ocean Tunnel. It’ll be hard to draw the kids away from this one!

If you’re willing to venture a little further afield from Mooloolaba for the afternoon, you won’t be disappointed. We recommend bringing the whole family along to Aussie World for an adrenaline-packed couple of hours of rides and entertainment. Located less than 15-minutes from Mooloolaba, Aussie World is brimming with a diverse range of thrills for little kids all the way through to adults (they’ll be talking about The Redback for days later).

Another option to unleash your family’s competitive side is a trip to Amaze World in Tanawha. This place is only 10 minutes from Mooloolaba and celebrates the outdoors with twisty mazes, mini-golf and more.

Dinner-time delights

When the stars come out and the moonlight reflects off the Pacific Ocean beyond, it’s hard to beat a twilight picnic of fish and chips straight off the trawler from Mooloolah River Fisheries. Alternatively, opt for the convenience of apartment-style accommodation that allows you to cook your own meals (and most importantly, boost your savings!). You’ll still have the chance to wander out along the esplanade or at The Wharf for a dessert treat. Hint: kids will love the colourful toppings and flavours on offer at Yoghurt & Gelato World.
